LITIGATION AND PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES
Verified Services & Investigations L.L.C. (“VSI”) provides a comprehensive range of litigation-support, investigative, and professional field services. Our services are tailored to the needs of attorneys, law firms, governmental entities, businesses, and other authorized clients.
Services involving legal research, legal drafting, case analysis, or other substantive paralegal work are performed only at the direction and under the supervision of a licensed attorney. Service of process, courier services, notarial acts, and permissible stand-alone factual investigations may be retained separately because those services do not constitute legal advice or legal representation.
PARALEGAL AND LITIGATION-SUPPORT SERVICES
VSI provides project-based paralegal and litigation-support services to licensed attorneys, law firms, and governmental legal departments. These services are performed at the direction and under the supervision of licensed counsel.
Available support may include:
- Case-file organization and management
- Review, indexing, and organization of discovery
- Preparation of discovery summaries and chronologies
- Factual and legal research performed for supervising counsel
- Drafting correspondence, pleadings, motions, and other attorney work product for counsel’s review and approval
- Preparation and organization of exhibits
- Bates labeling and document-production support
- Medical-record and case-record organization
- Trial notebooks, witness files, and hearing materials
- Docket and deadline assistance
- Court-filing and records-retrieval coordination
- Administrative and case-management support
The supervising attorney remains responsible for all legal advice, legal strategy, representations to the court, filings, and final work product. VSI does not independently represent clients or provide legal advice.
SERVICE OF PROCESS
VSI provides professional service-of-process support for law firms, governmental entities, businesses, and members of the public. An attorney’s supervision is not required to retain VSI solely to deliver legal process.
Documents served may include:
- Summonses and complaints
- Subpoenas
- Petitions and motions
- Court orders
- Notices
- Family-law documents
- Small-claims documents
- Governmental and administrative documents
- Other civil or criminal process authorized for service
VSI documents service attempts and, when applicable, prepares a return or affidavit describing the date, time, location, and manner of service. Every assignment is handled in accordance with the and laws governing service in the applicable jurisdiction.
Acceptance of an assignment does not guarantee successful service. The ability to complete service depends on factors that may include the accuracy of the information provided, the subject’s location and availability, access restrictions, safety considerations, and applicable legal requirements.
INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES
VSI conducts lawful factual investigations designed to help attorneys, governmental entities, businesses, and other authorized clients locate information, identify witnesses, document relevant events, and develop an organized factual record.
Investigative services may include:
- Witness identification and location
- Witness interviews and recorded or written statements, when authorized
- Skip tracing and address development
- Public-record and open-source research
- Background and identity research for lawful purposes
- Scene visits and photographic documentation
- Evidence identification and documentation
- Records location and retrieval
- Development of factual timelines and event chronologies
- Review and organization of reports, photographs, recordings, and other evidence
- Identification of potential inconsistencies or areas requiring further factual inquiry
- Preparation of factual investigative reports
- Litigation-related field assignments directed by counsel
- Service-location investigations and difficult-service support
A stand-alone factual investigation may be retained without an attorney when the requested work is lawful and does not involve legal advice, legal representation, or decisions reserved for licensed counsel.
When investigative work is connected to pending litigation, legal strategy, privileged attorney work product, or substantive case preparation, VSI performs the assignment at the direction of supervising counsel. VSI investigators report facts and observations; they do not determine a person’s legal rights, provide legal opinions, or select a legal strategy.
COURIER AND LEGAL-MESSENGER SERVICES
VSI provides secure and dependable courier and legal-messenger services throughout the available service area. These services may be retained directly and do not require attorney supervision when VSI is acting solely as a courier or messenger.
Courier services may include:
- Delivery of documents to courts and government offices
- Transportation of documents between law offices
- Filing and file-stamped copy retrieval
- Delivery of courtesy copies
- Retrieval of public records and certified copies
- Delivery of exhibits, discovery materials, and case files
- Time-sensitive and same-day deliveries, when available
- Chain-of-custody documentation for designated materials
- Pickup and delivery of notarial or business documents
VSI acts only as a courier or filing agent during these assignments. VSI does not decide what documents should be filed, calculate legal deadlines, select filing procedures, or provide legal advice concerning the documents.
NOTARY SERVICES
VSI offers notary services for individuals, attorneys, businesses, and governmental entities. Notary services are performed independently by an authorized notary public and do not require supervision by an attorney.
Depending on availability and legal authorization, services may include:
- Acknowledgments
- Jurats
- Oaths and affirmations
- Witnessing or attesting signatures
- Copy certifications when permitted by law
- In-person notarization
- Electronic or remote notarization when authorized and available
- Mobile notary appointments
A notary verifies identity, witnesses signatures, administers authorized oaths or affirmations, and completes the appropriate notarial certificate. A notary does not determine whether a document is legally sufficient, choose a document for a signer, explain its legal effect, or provide legal advice unless the notary is separately licensed and acting as an attorney.
